Show Durham Morris After Fifth District Judgeship Durham Morris, who is the Republican Re-publican candidate for District Judge of the Fifth Judicial District, Dis-trict, was born in Parowan in 1896. The early part of his life was spent in working on a farm, in herding sheep and in freighting from farm products to mining camps in Southern Utah and Nevada, Ne-vada, which he carried on as a means of raising funds with which to send himself to school. He attended the B. A. C. and received a high school diploma from that school in 1917. Army and served his country during the war. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he entered the University of Utah and received a Bachelor's Degree from that institution in-stitution in 1921. He then entered en-tered the University of Chicago and received the degree of Doctor Doc-tor of Jurisprudence from that school in 1923. While in high school and college, col-lege, he was active in athletics and debating, and received awards for outstanding accomplishments in these fields. For the past seventeen years, Mr. Morris has been active in the general practice of law in Southern Sou-thern Utah, and has built a fine reputation and a splendid law practice. During the past ten years, he has been a member of the law firm of Morris & Mathe-son, Mathe-son, consisting of himself and Scott M. Matheson, with law offices of-fices at Cedar City. In addition to his private practice, prac-tice, Mr. Morris has served as attorney for many municipalities, including Iron County, Cedar City, Parowan, Parogonah, Kan-arra, Kan-arra, Kanab and Iron County School District and has been active ac-tive in civic and church affairs. In 1923 he married Alberta Day 1 and has four children. |
