Show j Local News Items . . . The Woodward high school faculty with their wives and partners part-ners enjoyed a Dutch oven steak roast and party on Mount Hope Monday evening. The campfire program was in charge of Miss Jean Cannon. Mrs. J. Robinson and children. Kenneth, Marie and Billy Robinson, Robin-son, accompanied her eldest son, Robert Pendleton to St. George last week end, Robert is enrolled at the Dixie college. Mrs. Jess Higgins came with them to visit her son, Harold Higgins, who is here to attend school. Both boys were fromer Price high school graduates and it is understood they will be an asset to the vocal department of the college. Mrs. Robert Pickett entertained the members of the Friendly card club at her home Wednesday evening. Honors for the day went to Mrs. Andrew McArthur and Mrs. Willard Milne. Born, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Edison Demille of Leeds I on September 26. Mrs. Ross Hardy, matron of the college girl's dormitory, motored to Kanab and back last Saturday, accompanied by Miss Jean Linton and Miss Don Findlay, two Kanab co-eds of the Dixie college, who reside at the dormitory. Other Kanab students at Dixie include, Smith Johnson, Blaine Cutler, Denton Linton and Grant Hope. Mr. and Mrs. Carus Lortz and little daughter have returned to Salt Lake City after spending several days with relatives in St. George. Mrs. James Andrus was hostess hos-tess Wednesday to members of the Triple K Bridge club, with Mrs. Duke Sutton and Mrs. Ken Cox scoring honors. Refreshments were served. Hospital patients during the past week from the CCC camps include, Earl Whittaker of company com-pany 992, Zion Park, for medical treatment; William Reilly, Charles Willis, Stewart Hartman and Joe Kirchner, all of company 2558, Short Creek, in for surgery. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Benson of Enterprise, whose mother died immediately following follow-ing his birth, is reported to be progressing nicely and was taken home from the hospital September Septem-ber 23. Melba Hafen, a bride of two weeks, was honored by a shower Wednesday afternoon at the home of E. Vernon Snow. Among the sponsors were Maxine Snow, Beu-lah Beu-lah Sammons, Wanda Frei, Leora Hafen, Manda Sorenson and Karma Kar-ma Fawcett. Word was received this morning morn-ing by Mrs. Bertha McGregor that her son, Mar W. McGregor, was one of 250 doctors who passed the state board of California. Dr. and Mrs. h. W. McGregor are spending the week in Los Angeles. Mrs. Annie Condie is interested in getting the cooperation of neighbors in putting in a hydrant at her corner that will serve that vicinity in case of fire. She reports re-ports she is ready to stand her portion of the expense and urges others to join the movement before be-fore driven to it by a disastrous fire. James Parker of Short Creek is a medical patient at the local hospital. P. E. Parsons returned to Salt Lake City last Saturday evening. Mrs. Parsons and children will join him later. Mrs. Hal Bracken entered the hospital September 22 for treatment. treat-ment. Mrs. A. B. Andrus took the bus Sunday evening for Los Angeles on receipt of a telephone call during the day announcing the birth of twin daughters to Mr. and Mrs. James Roman Andrus. The mother is the former Pansy Pratt of Kanab. Mrs. Lizzie Lamb returned last week to Salt Lake City, after visiting in St. George for several days on her way home from spending a month with her children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawkins in Los Angeles. Mrs. H. C. Cottam returned on Friday evening from Salt Lake City where she has been to attend the marriage, Tuesday, Sept. 19, of their son, Alma, to Miss Naomi Melville. The marriage took place in the Salt Lake Temple. The bride and groom, also, Mrs. Glenn B. Orton of Springville, accompanied her home and visited until Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Cottam will go on to Chicago where they will make their home for the ensuing three years while Mr. Cottam continues con-tinues his studies in Rush Medical Medi-cal college. Mrs. Wendell Robinson has returned re-turned to her home in Hemmet, Calif., after visiting for several days at the home of her mother, Mrs. Minnie Ahlstrom. Miss Mishie Seegmiller entertained enter-tained the members of her Saturday Satur-day night bridge club at her home on September 23. The girls at the Dixie college dormitory are inviting a few intimate inti-mate friends to join them at a candy-pull on Friday evening. This is the first dormitory social of the season. Invitations are out announcing the Lambda Beta tea, honoring prospective sorority sisters at the college tea room this (Thursday) evening'. Stanley and Ray Schmutz, Shirl Pitchforth and Schuyler Everett left Sunday morning for Provo where they will enroll at the Brigham Young University. Mrs. Mattie W. Ruesch and family are here to spend the winter from their home on the Big Plains. Eight members of the N.E.B. Pinochle club were entertained by Mrs. Bill Sanger last Thursday afternoon. Prizes went to Mrs. Gerald Blake and Mrs. Demby Wade. Members of the O.T.T.F. 4-H club held their last party of the club year Saturday, Sept. 23, going to the theatre and dining at the Liberty cafe. Mrs. Elbert Nelson visited in Pine Valley during the past week with Mrs. Clavvson Burgess. Mrs. Fenton Gray of Enterprise spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday Sat-urday in St. George visiting.
