Show Mrs. Ruth Burkhalter Dies In L. A. Hospital Word was received by St. George relatives late Monday night of the death of Mrs. Ruth Atkin (William) (Wil-liam) Burkhalter, 37, in a Los Angeles hospital of acute gastritis. She had been ill three weeks, death coming at 9:50 p.m. Jan. 1, 1940. Their address is 1255 Norton Avenue, Glendale, Calif. Born in St. George June 18, 1902, she was a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Susie Fawcett Atkin. She received her district schooling in this city and graduated gradu-ated from the Dixie junior college, col-lege, after which she took summer sum-mer school work at the B.Y.U. and taught in this county. In 1927 she married William Burkhalter and moved to Glendale, Glen-dale, Calif., where they have continued con-tinued to make their home. Surviving Sur-viving besides her husband are three children, Billie, Sue Jane and Charles Wayne, the latter aged 10 months; her mother, Mrs. Susie Atkin and the following brothers and sisters: Joseph T. Atkin Jr., Rudgar Atkin and Anthony Atkin all of St. George and Mrs. Glenn Neilson of Glendale, Glen-dale, Calif. Mrs. Atkin was called to California Cali-fornia when her daughter took ill and has remained. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Atkin, Mr. and Mrs. Rudgar Atkin and Anthony Atkin left Tuesday afternoon . for Glendale Glen-dale where they will attend the funeral to be held in Glendale j ward chapel of the L.D.S. church j Thursday afternoon. Burial will I be in Ros? Lawn cemetery. |
