Williams and Mrs. Late Ballard have been guests at the Samuel L. Pollock home in Kanarraville timing the past Week. The outgoing and newly elected Hurricane high school student body officers, nine in number, wore guests on Saturday of the Dixie junior college where they met in the capacity of an annual officers' convention. Mr. and Mrs. John Petty have just returned from Salt Iike City where Mr. Petty has been receiving re-ceiving treatment for cancer. Mrs. Virginia Adair of New Harmony came down Sunday to stay with her parents for a while. Honored guest at a party given Monday evening by the stake Sunday school board, was Frank Barber, who has been released as stake superintendent after serving approximately 10 years in this office. Homer Isom, who has been a student at Hamilton Airport in California for the past few months, arrived here late Saturday Satur-day to visit his father, Howard Isom and family. Miss Alna Wittwer's fiance, Henry Behunan of Chicago, arrived ar-rived here Thursday for a brief visit at the Joseph Wittwer home. Hurricane high school had their annual "H" Day on Tuesday. Heretofore, the day has been spent in Zion but this year the school held their celebration on their own school grounds. The forenoon was spent in a general clean-up and the afternoon in a track meet for both girls and boys. A student body dance in the evening climaxed the day. Mrs. Anna Millsap of Salt Lake City spent Monday through Wednesday Wed-nesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Wright. Also guests at the Wright home were Mr. and Mrs. Alma Wright Jr., of Overton. After several weeks of visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion F. Stout, Mrs. R. A. Pierce returned to her home in West Hollywood, Calif, on Friday. Sunday visitors at the George L. Whitney home were Mrs. Therian Ballard and children of Boulder City and Levi Syphus and Mrs. Flora Naye of Las Vegas. Thursday, the Hurricane high school held their annual honor day wherein they awarded points for the various activities and scholarships to the various colleges. col-leges. Those awarded scholarships included: Union Pacific scholarship scholar-ship at the U.S.A.C., Clark Ballard; Bal-lard; A.C. at Logan, Ilean Woodbury; Wood-bury; U. of U., Leon Hall; B.A.C., Lenna Cox and Audrey Ballard and Dixie junior college, Barbara Tweedie and Opal Isom. |
