Show NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Miss Lucy A. Phillips, former: English instructor of the Dixie college, visited briefly with friends in St. George Sunday enroute back to Ephraim with the bus load of Snow college debators, whom she accompanied on their recent coast trip. Mrs. Moroni Snow and Jacob F. Gates returned Saturday to Salt Lake City after spending several days here visiting with their brothers F. J. and Wellington Welling-ton F. Gates and families. !! Mrs. Gertrude Lund and Miss Cornelia Lund of Enterprise were visiting in St. George the fore part of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Will Lund, who are here for the benefit of Mr. Lund's health. Mrs. Wesley Mullett returned Sunday from Salt Lake City, where she spent the past week visiting and on business. Members of the Vesta club and their partners held a "Search for Talent" party in the recreation hall of the south ward chapel Saturday Sat-urday evening .The event let loose a vertiable deluge of dormant talent in readings, pantomines, dramatizations, vocal and instrumental instru-mental music, and members express ex-press hope for future opportunities. Lunch was served to 35. Mrs. Minnie Ahlstrom, daughter Miss Miriam, and sons, Dr. Jack and Howard Ahlstrom motored to Nevada's Lost City to spend last Sunday. They were accompanied by "Uncle" Charley Seegmiller and Miss Fern Seegmiller, father and sister of Mrs. Ahlstrom. With Mead Lake already spreading over what was formerly the fields of St. Thomas, Uncle Charley found little to identify that section of the old L.D.S. Muddy Valley Mission, Mis-sion, where he first located when he came south from Salt Lake, in answer to the call of Pres. Brig-ham Brig-ham Young. Mrs. Leona Pearce was hostess to the KYB club members at her home Friday afternoon. Special guests were Mrs. Zetta Worthen, Mrs. Elma Miles and Mrs. Richard Glover. Rook furnished the enter-. enter-. tainment. Refreshments were served. -v- ; Mrs. Sabra Foremaster and small daughter, Carol left Tuesday ; night for Salt Lake City to visit relatives, j & Mrs. Lizzie Lamb entertained ' the Saturday Night Bridge club at her home March 26. J Mrs. Juanita Brooks, Mrs. Zora - S. Jarvis and Mrs. Maude Wood- Mrs. James E. Hall left Sunday Sun-day to visit with relatives in California for the next two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. John M. Mac-farlane Mac-farlane left Thursday afternoon for their home in Salt Lake City after spending a month here for Mr. Macfarlane's health. He leaves greatly improved. Ray Burgess, of New Castle, left for his home the latter part of the week after attending his father's funeral in Mesquite and visiting in St. George. Gerald Jackson, son of Mrs. Fern Averett is a patient at the hospital. f.- "; Miss Helen Leavitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee V. Leavitt, of Gunlock is a recent surgery patient at the McGregor hospital, j, j', -i Mr. Ambrose S. Barraclough of Beaver underwent surgery at the local hospital March 29. -I Miss Buelah Smith, daughter of Mrs. Eleanor Smith, underwent an appendectomy at the local hospital last week. The Federal Art Handicraft club met at the home of Mrs. Fred Riding "on Wednesday evening. Refreshments Re-freshments were served to 20 members and 10 special guests. On Friday, March 25, the club met at the new home of Milo Blake. On interesting feature of this meeting was a demonstration of the art of beautiful hand crocheted cro-cheted rugs, by Mrs. Eliza Atkin, who is 77 years old. Mrs. Roxey S. Romney left Wednesday Wed-nesday for the northern part of the state, where she will attend a Library convention. She will also go into Idaho to transact business before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Milne and small son, Bertram, of St. George, accompanied by Mrs. Milne's mother, Mrs. George Milne and son, Lee and Mrs. Milne's daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Donna Lesiur of Salt Lake City, motored to Diamond Valley Sunday and spent the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al bert O. Mrs. James Prince of Panaca is registered at the local hospital, having undergone an operation on ' March 26. |
