Show Bill Smith, Hurricane Chapter F.F.A Member Wins U. P. Scholarship The annual Union Pacific scholarship award of $100, which is to be used at the Utah Agricultural Agri-cultural college at Logan, was won this year by Bill Smith of Hurricane. Hurri-cane. The award is for outstanding work in agriculture and leadership leader-ship activities. Bill Smith is a member of the Hurricane Chapter of F.F.A. and was secretary of the organization in 1931, reporter in 1936 and went to Kansas City as a member of the state F.F.A. band in 1934 and again in 1937. He was chapter representative rep-resentative in the district F.F.A. Public Speaking contest in '37, a member of the chapter poultry and judging team in '37, chapter delegate dele-gate at the state convention in '37, freshman vice-president, junior class president, student body president presi-dent for '37 and '38, a member of the varsity debating team in '37. He had a part in the student body play in '37; took part in the M.I. A. play in '35, two in '35 and one in '36 and '37; also a Legion play In '36. He has been Deacon president, presi-dent, Scout patrol leader for two years, one of which his patrol was winner of the district which made it possible for them to attend the State Camporal. He is a Star I Scout also. At the present he is a member of the Senior play cast and he held a principal part in the student body operas of '35, '36 and '37.
