Show Local News Items . . . Mr. and Mrs. Schuyler Maggard left by auto Saturday morning for a month's vacation in Kentucky Ken-tucky where they will visit Mr. Maggard's parents. Marcell Schmutz was home over the week end from the Schmutz ranch on the Arizona Strip. Mrs. Brent Abbott and son, Kelton, left Saturday for their home in Reno. They were accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Abbott's sister, Enid Webb, who will spend her vacation in Reno. Enroute, they will visit with Mr. Abbott's parents in Bunkerville and with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Whipple in Las Vegas. Mrs. Inez Leavitt of Kingman, Ariz., visited in St. George over Commencement, her son, LaVoid Leavitt, Dixie college graduate, returned with her. Maxine Abbott left for her home in Bunkerville Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. James S. Jones honored their daughter, Mrs. Vivian Leany and son, Adolia, with a family anniversary dinner, Sunday. Attending from Pioche, were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jones and children. Miss Velda Leany returned to Pioche with them for a short visit. Mrs. Clifford Olson and two children of Salt Lake City, who have been visiting relatives in Littlefield the past two weeks, spent Saturday in St. George with Miss Gertrude Frehner, Mrs. Olson's sister. Miss Lucile Frehner and Mrs. Evan Sweet and son accompanied her. On Sunday the Olsons left for Salt Lake City, accompanied as far as Fillmore by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Frehner. Vella Washburn, Rene Lyman, and Evelyn Hawkins left Wednesday Wednes-day for their homes in Blanding, Utah, having spent the winter at the Dixie junior college. Mr. and Mrs. George Coles and two children arrived last Friday from Provo to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cottam for two weeks, but were called home by phone Saturday due to the death of Mr. Coles' mother. Mrs. Coles and Mrs. Cottam are sisters. Mrs. Lillian Gluyas accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Alice B. B'leak, returned last week to her home in Taft, Calif. Mrs. Bleak will remain a month. Miss Pauline Schmutz left Friday Fri-day for Logan, where she will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schmutz for commencement. commence-ment. They will return to St. George with her attending the June L.D.S. conference at Salt Lake City, enroute. Mrs. Frank Hawkes of Cedar City visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Starr last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Starr plan to leave for Logan, Friday, to attend the graduation of their daughter, Fern. Dr. and Mrs. Hawkes will join them at Cedar City for the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Jarvis and three children of Ventura, Calif., were guests last Friday of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Miles, while attending the Temple. An informal family gathering was held at the Miles home Friday evening. Mr. Jarvis is a son of the late Samuel Jarvis, and has not visited St. George since he was six years old when the family came following the exodus from Old Mexico. Mrs. Anne Robinson and daughter daugh-ter left Saturday for their homes in northern Utah. ''iiii Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Peterson over commencement were their mothers, Mrs. W. D. Peterson, of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. L. H. Bailey, of Nephi. The Petersons returned with them on Saturday to Mt. Pleasant and will later go to Los Angeles where Mr. Peterson will attend summer school. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Linton and son, Ralph, of Smithfield, motored to St. George last Thursday to attend commencement programs.
