Show Storm Spoils Tract-Races Tract-Races Called Off For the first time in the history his-tory of the annual Mid-Winter race meet, races have not been run as scheduled. Due to the fact that rain and snow have fallen practically every day for a week, the track is not in condition to be used. On the one clear day the ground was frozen making it dangerous to race. Each day plans were made the night before to run races on the following day, and each time the events have had to be called off. Since the storm covers such a wide area, many race horsemen were unable to bring their horses here. Telegrams had been received from horsemen in California, Montana, and Idaho stating that they would be here, but iduei to the unusual storms they were unable to come. Those in charge point out that the storm could not be anticipated antici-pated as never before has it been necessary to call off the races. There have been many times in the past when the imeet was held in the rain, but the track had not been rained on four days previous to the meet, and while slippery, could be used. |
