Show THE HABIT OF THINKING v, ." By Frank A. Garbutt ; We are all creatures of habit and sad to relate, many of the habits we form are bad ones. Good habits are hard to form and bad ones are harder to break, therefore we ought to be very careful in forming habits, especially small ones, which often lead us by imperceptible degrees into difficulty from which there is no retreat. In general these things are so well understood that one of the highest recommendations we can bestow is to sav, "he is a man of good habits". Habits of industry, of thrift, the habit of being considerate con-siderate of the rights and feelings of those we pass by, as well as those we contact, have a direct bearing upon our success, just as all mean little habits of mind and body drag us toward failure. Laziness or bodily apathy is a bad habit easy to form and difficult to overcome, but indolence of mind is many more times so. The habit of thinking is a habit that comparatively few people have formed. The habit of logical thinking is the most valuable asset anyone may acquire. You can work only certain hours, but an active mind properly disciplined dis-ciplined by habit will think for you at all times even subconsciously while you sleep. o |
