Show I Shevwit Indians Take Part In 3-Day Celebration Indians from the Shivwit Indian Reservation who attended the celebration at Flagstaff, report that they took part in the three day program by presenting a dance on each of the three nights of the celebration. They were among the dancers given an invitation in-vitation to participate in the celebration cele-bration to be held at Gallup, N. M. August 14 to 17. Nine dancers participated in the dances presented by this group which were, first night, Mountain Sheep Hunting dance; second night, Medicine Snake dance and third night, Sunda Dance. They report that considerable interest was shown in the dances which were presented under the direction direc-tion of George McFee, dance manager man-ager of the group. Twenty Indians from here attended at-tended the event. They report as high as 10,000 people turned out each day to watch the various events. There were 13 tribes who presented dances. A great many more are expected to take part in the dances at Gallup. |
