Show Hurricane Starts 4th Celebration on Wednesday r'' HURRICANE, Utah Hurricane began celebrating July 4 by dancing danc-ing the night before and until the early hours of the morning, and at daybreak the Hurricane high school band, directed by Owen Burgener; made its rounds. At 10:30 a.m. the annual morning morn-ing program was given under the direction of Mr. Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Arthur A. Brown. The program pro-gram was as follows: Song, "Star-Spangled "Star-Spangled Banner", by the congregation; con-gregation; invocation; vocal solo, Mrs. Leon Sullivan; oration, Wm. E. Woodbury; vocal solo, Mrs. Lillian Workman; piano solo, Elva Wright; vocal duet, Dorothy Webb and Gwynn Bradshaw; reading, Mrs. Hazel Walker; vocal solo, Afton Wilson; piano duet,. Dorothy Hirschi and Elaine Bradshaw; Brad-shaw; talk by Mayor Ira H. Bradshaw; Brad-shaw; music by Albert Fitzpatrick; Fitz-patrick; benediction, John Hall. The afternoon sports began at the city park at 3 o'clock. There were races for children with prizes and candy. Older people competed in various stunt races and horseshoe pitching. In the evening many of the townspeople went to dances in Rockville and Kanarra. |
