Show MRS. LILLIAN G. KNIGHT, PIONEER DAUGHTER, DIES Mrs. Lillian Gates Knight, wife of Lewis M. Knight, and prominent Church worker, died at the family residence, 944 east Seventeenth South street, Monday night. Funeral services will be held in the Richards' ward, chapel at 2 p. m. Thursday, October 28. Mrs. Knight was born in Bellevue, Washington county, Dec. 19, 1876, the daughter of the late Jacob Gates oi tne inrst seven President of Seventies, Sev-enties, early pioneer of Salt Lake valley and later a pioneer in Utah's Dixie, and Mrs. May Ware Gates. ' She married Feb. 21, 1905, to Mr. Knight, a son of William Knight also al-so a pioneer to Utah, and Jane Hol-den Hol-den Knight. Mr. Knight is now manager of the Utah Candy company. Mrs. Knight was especially prominent prom-inent in the Relief society where she served as a teacher for many years. She had a large circle of friends and was widely, known for her gentle and generous disposition, and unusual devotion as a wife and mother. Surviving in addition to her husband hus-band are three children, Thelma, Lewis Gates, and Mary Knight of Salt Lake and six brothers and sisters: sis-ters: Dr. Claude W. Gates, Jacob F. Gates and Mrs. Adelaide Snow, Salt Lake; Arthur W. Gates, Oakland, Oak-land, Calif.; J. M. Gates and Will F. Gates, St. George. The son was called home from a mission in the eastern states several months ago because of his mother's illness. He will soon return to complete com-plete his mission. Deseret News. |
