Show STILL Fill THE AUTO GLUHDF UTAH The new injunction proceedings brought by the Utah State Automobile Automo-bile association against the Auto Club of Utah will only serve to delay the proper organization of the new touring bureau whether under this or some other name, according to Elias S. Woodruff, secretary of the Auto Club of Utah and the Scenic Highway association. Mr. Woodruff believes that in suing to enjoin the use of the Auto Club name the Utah State Automobile Automo-bile association is following out an objective of throwing every possible obstacle in the way of organizing a body that will be truly representative representa-tive of the state's interest. Whether the suit recently filed will be decided adversely to the Scenic Highway interests, in-terests, a decision highly improbable in the opinion of Mr. Woodruff and associates, a new touring body will be built up to route traffic without favor to any section. Commenting on the injunction proceedings pro-ceedings recently filed in the Third district court Mr. Woodruff said: "The new case seems to us to contain con-tain no new point. In our previous hearing the judge held there was no cause of judicial action. This case rehearses much of the old complaint and seeks to restrain this club from using its chosen name. "The name Auto Club of Utah is not similar to their chosen title of the Utah State Automobile association associa-tion and in adopting the former the Scenic Highway interests are merely seeking some title which will be truly descriptive of its business, which the opposing organization is exerting every influence to prevent. "There is a general feeling existing exist-ing pretty well throughout the state that the old touring organization has used its influence in directing auto traffic to the detriment of many sections. sec-tions. This has led to a very unsatisfactory unsat-isfactory attitude on the part of many country merchants who blame Salt Lake business men for fostering such an organization to the detriment detri-ment of the state as a whole. "Since our organization we have tried to allay this dissatisfaction and create a better feeling not only toward to-ward Salt Lake but between every section of the state. Our organization organiza-tion aims to direct traffic without favor to any particular section and to assure the outlying communities that their interests will be properly fostered. "Many of the country districts which believe their interests will best be served by the new touring bureau sponsored by the Scenic Highway association as-sociation men will regard tin., fight as a fight against themselves. Wo regret that after the case was once decided, the Utah State AuU lObile associaion should again seek to delay the work and it is to be hoped that the old animosities which have existed exist-ed will not again be aroused. The men behind the new touring bureau sincerely desire to see an early settlement settle-ment of the case to enable us to pursue pur-sue the purposes of our organization without the Utah State Automobile associaion again butting in and attempting at-tempting to secure an absolute monopoly of the automobile touring business. "This sort of an organization is not formed for pecuniary profit and is merely for the purpose of directing traffic to the best interests of the . people. I can see no advantage in permitting such a monopoly to exist longer where it has so manifestly failed to give satisfaction to the people peo-ple of the state." |
