Show WHITEWASH YOUR FENCES The Relief Society, ever forward in good works, has been conducting a civic pride program which has been productive produc-tive of much good and for which they are deserving of the utmost commendation. commenda-tion. Flies, weeds, untidy premises, etc., have come in for remedial measures measur-es and they have kept the good work up. Their latest move is to get a good weather-proof whitewash recipe from the Agricultural college which has been tried here and proven to be very good and inexpensive. For board fences and outdoor things that do not justify the expense of paint, it is a splendid substitute sub-stitute and costs very little. Here is the receipe: A weatherproof whitewash for exterior exter-ior surfaces may be made as follows: (1) Slake 1 bushel of quicklime in 12 gallons of hot water, (2) dissolve 2 pounds of common salt and 1 pound of sulphate of zinc in 2 gallons of skim milk and mix thoroughly. Whitewash is spread lightly over the surface with a broad brush. We hope our citizens will give it a trial and rejoice in the improved appearance ap-pearance of their homes through its use. |
