Show COUNTY AGENT HL REPORT. LISTS PROJECTS All Phases of Farming in "Washington Cour.ty Covered Cov-ered in Report cf Past Year's Extension Activities The annual report of Walter F. Smith, cour.ty agent, taking in the period from December 1. 1929.: to November 30. 1930. has been ; completed and mailed to the state supervisor. The following summary j lists the accomplishments of the past year, and other portions of the report will be printed in later issues of this paper: 1. Effected an extension organization or-ganization in fifteen communities. communi-ties. 2. Cooperated whenever possible pos-sible with the officers of the Dixie Cooperative Produce association. 3. Assisted in truck crops production, pro-duction, with cultivation demonstration, demon-stration, fertilizer experiments and assistance in pest control. 4. Encouraged fruit production by demonstration on pruning, thinning and cultivation. 5. Assisted with sugar beet seed demonstration work, 6. Assisted with forming spray rings. 7. Conducted potato seed treating treat-ing demonstration. 8. Conducted commercial fertilizer fer-tilizer experiments on alfalfa. ' 9. Assisted in planting new forage crops. 10. Encouraged the planting of larger potato and bean acreage. ' 1 11. Worked vith Dr. Richards' ! and Dr. Wann on disease plants. 12. Conducted rodent control campaign. 13. Held twenty-nine meetings on meat chicken production. 14. Assisted committee in mak-coop mak-coop plans for meat chicken production. pro-duction. 15. Assisted with turkey pool s:xk men's r.eld days in Xevada. : CI. Conducted invest:; .v.ioii on CI. Conducted 4-H clubs with beys cn poultry. rabbits, dairy, calves and gardens. Held four achievement days. ; three club outings and 77 club J meetings. I '24. Assisted with home survey. , ! 25. Secured women to take j , training in adult leaders' training train-ing school. ' I 26. Conducted rural recreation 'classes in St. George and Hur-: Hur-: riesr.e. 27. Went on excursion with group of farmers into California, studying truck crops and poultry production. 28. Made three trips north with farmers on poultry and livestock tours. 29. Secured services of Director Peterson of the TJ. A. C. for study on underground water. 30. Assisted with agricultural institute during Leadership week. 31. Assisted with livestock and poultry shows during Leadership week. 32. Assisted with horticultural, livestock and poultry displays at the Dixie fruit festival at Hurricane.
