Show VIRGIN OIL ILL MAXES (OODJPEED Prill Reaches Depth of 850 Feet in Littlefield Structure; Struc-ture; Gas Bubbles Noted Not-ed at Depth of 400 Feet Without any ostentation, the Virgin Oil and Mines Corporation, Frank A. Gesell, president, has been steadily sinking in the structure struc-ture near littlefield, in the face of difficulties which would discourage dis-courage most operators. Just now the drill is spinning along, dropping something like 20 feet a day. But a short time ago it was in the hard crystallized sandstone which required three months to sink 100 feet, and wore out a $38 black diamond bit every day. According to Mr. Gesell, they are much pleased and encouraged by the favorable developments, and they have very reasonable prospects pros-pects of opening an extensive new field producing oil of a paraffin base similar to that of the Pennsylvania Penn-sylvania fields. At a depth of 400 feet the well gave off a very noticeable bubbling bub-bling of gas, which was still fur-, fur-, ther increased when a strata at approximately 600 feet was cut. With reasonable good fortune the formation in which oil may be expected will be entered by the drill in about 60 days. Mr. Gesell has spent a considerable consid-erable sum of money to have this structure examined by competent geologists. It appears from reports that the same structure in which oil Indications are found near St. George, extends southeasterly through the corner of Arizona and Nevada, ending probably near Glcncle. Since the formation on the Nevada Ne-vada end of tt structure is much less broken than that farther north, geologists predict that oil will be found In much larger pools, which have remained undisturbed un-disturbed through the ages.
