Show 70 BOOKS PER DAY CIRCULATED BY LIBRARY According to Mrs. Roxie Romney, librarian, the average circulation of books in the children's department during the past two months, has been 70 per day. In September, 1928, a children's department was started at the county library. Until that time there was but one general department in which one librarian was employed. Books for from the first to sixth grades, consisting of 1400 volumes, were withdrawn and placed in the basement of the building. Mrs. Jennie Brown was employed to handle this department. Today there are 1800 books in this department containing material mate-rial on every subject which is of interest to children, and in addition addi-tion 100 volumes which are now ready to place on the shelves. Three tables, three dozen chairs, picture stands and hat racks as well as other furniture makes the department de-partment interesting and worthwhile. worth-while. Each Saturday afternoon following follow-ing Primary a story hour is conducted con-ducted which is proving very interesting in-teresting to children. |
