Show BEET GROWERS ASS'N HOLDS MEETING; 60 MEMBERS PRESENT A meeting of the Washington county Beet Growers association was held in the Science Building, at 7:00 o'clock Friday evening. George Seegmiller called the meeting to order and Mr. Jones of the Annaconda Copper company, com-pany, who was in attendance, gave some motion pictures showing show-ing the effects of phosphate and nitrate fertilizer which was very educational and interesting. To assist in an advertising plan contemplated con-templated by the organization, Mr. Jones agreed to come down and take pictures of spring beets and the threshing of beet seed. He will show these along with his phosphate pictures . giving publicity to this district as a beet growing and harvesting country. coun-try. Mr. Jones contacts about 60,-000 60,-000 farmers annually in Utah, Idaho and Colorado. An extensive exten-sive advertizing campaign had been arranged for this beet growing grow-ing era. There were sixty growers grow-ers present at this meeting and all are enthusiastic over the future fu-ture of beet growing. He also told of the desirability of getting the soil ready early before the heavy winter frosts set in, and of attending to the federation of wild and volanteer beets. The t executive committee were author-. author-. ized to use the beet recleaning waste as a feed and were given authority to oversee its harvesting harvest-ing and hauling away to save scattering. All of the seed must 7 be ground before it is hauled . away. Permission must be gained gain-ed from the executive committee before any seed is taken away. The seed will be mixed with ; molasses or grain if desired and sold for livestock feed. Anyone wishing to buy this feed is urged to contact George Seegmiller, Clarence Schmutz or Phillip Fore-master.
