Show MANY ENTER WORD CONTEST; LARGE LISTS TURNED IN TO NEWS That considerable interest is being taken in the word contest sponsored by the News, was manifest this past week by the number of lists turned in and the length of these lists. In our ad announcing the contest, con-test, we stated that only one prize would be awarded, but since we had two lists entered having over 600 words each we have decided to award both of these contestants with a dollar coupon. The two to receive these coupons are Miss Helen Bradshaw o:f St. George and Mrs. Ruth Truman of Central. In checking their lists, we find that even with this large number num-ber entered by each, there .are many words on each list that aren't on the other, so that it is evident that the number of words could have been greater than either secured. It is quite evident that we picked a line containing too many vowels. In the future this will be avoided, and in that way lessen the .number of words that may be formed from the letters. let-ters. The last day of entering the contest is being changed from Tuesday noon to Monday, since at present there isn't enough time allowed for mailed letters to arrive here and be checked. |
