Show DID YOU EVER STOP TO THINK By E. R. Waite, Secretary, Shawnee, Okla., Board of Commerce. That too many cities have toe many so-called "respectable citzens' who violate or encourage others ir violating- laws That the activities of this pernicious pernici-ous class is especially noticable in regard to the tax laws. That large numbers of people claiming to be good citizens make every effort possible to evade the payment of their taxes. That they try in every way to saddle sad-dle their share on other citizens and try to force them to carry a double burden. That the success of a city and county depends in a great measure on how its laws are enforced. That if every citizen paid his just share of taxes, most citzens would get along better. That some people have an overabundance over-abundance of nerve. The tax-dodger has a little more than the average. aver-age. That they show a sad lack of ap preciation for the city in which they ' live. That you can't blame the honest tax-payers for being "peeved" they have a right to be. ! The laws and especially tax laws should be enforced or taken from the statute books. |
