Show A DIFFICULT PROBLEM An increasingly difficult problem, prob-lem, facing the towns along the Arrowhead Trail is the matter of aiding the destitute traveler. St. 'George for the past several months ihas been assisting" from four to ten of these transients a day 'people who are stranded without :iunds. The difficulty comes from the fact that while probably a majority ma-jority are in need, some are im-posters. im-posters. Under the present method of caring for these transients, there lis a great chance for duplication, and the organization of a central committee would probably solve 'the problem. , Under this plan an investigating committee would ;pass on all applications for assistance assist-ance Bmd if found worthy the necessary aid would he given from a central fund contributed to by the church organizations, the city .and county. Individuals and business men who are so frequently approached could Tefer all .solicitors to .the .committee. This would .prevent die promiscuous soliciting throughout through-out the town and the charity would be placed where it would do the most good and the bum prevented from imposing upon the liberality and sympathy of the .people. This problem will grow more acute with the coming of winter and something should be done 3vyw to relieve the situation. |
