GEORGE DEFEATS CEDAR IN SUNDAY DASEDALL GAME St. George defeated Cedar in the last half of the 10th inning of their game played last Sunday at the local ball park before one of the largest crowds St. George ever had turn out for an opening game,, when Porter, the first man up for St. George, hit the first ball pitched to him over the right field fence for a home run. The local boys got off to a nice lead when they scored 5 runs in the first inning. With the exception of this inning Thompson for Cedar pitched a good game of ball. 6t. George didn't score again until the 6th when they brought in one to make the score 6 to 7. Cedar blanked them in the 7th and 8th but in the 9th they slipped another run accross to tie the score. In the 10th Cedar went out one, two, three and then Porter came through with the winning run for St. George. Cedar started their scoring by getting 1 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th. These runs were made off Dick Lund who started on the mound for St. George. Dick, ordinarily or-dinarily a, fine pitcher, wasn't up to par, and to the fans it would seem that he should have been pulled before he was. Where Dick was having an off day, Ad Anderson was plenty hot. Coming into the game in j ihs 5th he fanned 10 men and i on: - had one real hit chalked up acains- h:n. With the tying of the score in the ninth, fans felt it was only a matter of time until St. George would break the tie with the winning run. The verdict of those who saw the game seems to be that St. George is a much improved team over last year. This is particularly particul-arly true in batting.
