Show WILLIAM A. FAWCETT IS LAID TO REST; VERY IMPRESSIVEJUNERAL Funeral services for William Arthur Fawcett were held Thursday Thurs-day morning, June 20th, at 10:00' in the St. George Stake Tabernacle Taberna-cle under the direction of Bishop Vernon Worthen of the West Ward. "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" was sung by the South Ward mixed mix-ed qtiJ"'ttt composed of Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Miles. William A. Whitehead and Mrs. Alie Cannon. Can-non. j The opening prayer was offer-ed offer-ed by Elder H. T. Atkin. The mixed quartet sang "Sweet Hour cf Prayer." President George F. Whitehead told of his acquaintance .with William Fawcett and of his fine outstanding qualities. "He had worked for years on the thresher" thresh-er" said President Whitehead, "and was one of the best at that work in this part of the country. People enjoyed working with him. j He was honest and upright in his character and clean in his speech no matter where he was working or the type of men he was working among. He was kind to animals especially his horses J and was known by men who worked work-ed with him for his ability to han- t die his horses without ill treating them." President Whitehead then mentioned the degrees ot glory and prayed that the Lord would bless the family in their bereavement. Elder Samuel Jepson of Hurricane Hurri-cane told of his association with Mr. Fawcett the last few years while he has been living at Hur- , . ricane. He stated that they lived only a short distance apart and went ward teaching together. He went on to tell of his outstanding qualities and explained th congenial con-genial spirit between them and the joy he had gained from his association with him. Mr. Jepson Jep-son spoke of his long association with the Fawcett family and how much he had enjoyed associating with them. Trumpet solo; "The Roaa-rj," Earl J. Bleak. Patriarch George W. Worthen stated that William Fawcett's father fath-er was one of the first to drive a wagon into this valley. William Will-iam Thompson was the other. Mr. Worthen continued by telling of his long and intimate acquaintance acquain-tance with Mr. Fawcett and how we can profit by the example of such worthy characters. He then spoke on death and the resurrection resurrec-tion and the benefit of the. knowledge know-ledge we gain here. Joseph Webb. President of the. High Priest Quorum of the Zion Park Stake, told of the outstanding outstand-ing characteristics of the departed and of his devotion to the work of the Lord. His long and inti- j mate association with the Fawcett; family, was spoken of by Mr. 1 Webb and told how the deceas-, ed's father preached the gospel to his father in England and convert-! ed him and years later when Mr. I Fawcett was put in as Bishop of Price and Bloomington Mr. Webb was one of his councilors. "Their children associated together and learned to love one another," declared de-clared Mr. Webb. "The joy he has gained from his association with him and expressed his sympathy sym-pathy to the children and to Mrs. Fawcett, was related by him. Mrs. Fawcett has been called upon to bear a lot of sorrow in the last few years," said Mr. Webb, "when death has visited her home and taken members of her family." Elder Wilford Leany, a member mem-ber of the Bishopric of the ward to which Mr. Fawcett belonged, told of his work in the ward and of the friendship that existed between be-tween them and declared that he was glad Bishop Worthen took charge as Mr. Fawcett lived foi s-o many years inythe West Ward here. Bishop Worthen expressed his appreciation of all those who had taken part and who had assisted the family in any way during their sorrow. Expressed his appreciation apprecia-tion for his association with the i Fawcett family. j Vocal solo, "One Fleeting i Hour," was sung by Mrs. Mamie Paxman. The closing prayer was offered by Patriarch Benjamin F. LeBar-i LeBar-i on of the Zion Park Stake. Interment was made in the city j cemetery the grave being dedicat- ed by William Lund, i |
