Show EAST WARD t MEX CAPTURE FIRST GAME BY SCORE OF TWENTY-THREE TO SIXTEEN By staging a last quarter drive the East Ward M Men defeated the Wrest by the score of 2 3 to 16, last Wednesday night, November Novem-ber 27 in the local gym. The game was a hard fought one from the beginning with the lead changing chang-ing hands several times, but the West weakened in the last quarter and the East beat them going away. L. Esplin for the West was high scorer for the game, making 8 points. W. Seegmiller and M. Webb for the East were next with 7 points each. Wayne Whitehead, one of last year's high scoring forwards, was held to 4 points. The West Ward showed a real bunch of fighters, but the superior super-ior play of the East gave them the game. Fans who saw the game felt that the East displayed a mid-season form, and express the belief that when these two teams battle it out on the 20th of January, Janu-ary, the West will give them a real run for their money. Enterprise and Washington were to have played the same night but their game was postponed until a later date. Santa Clara and the South Ward men will play tonight in the local gymnasium. |
