Show JAMES HUGHES OF MESQUITE DEAD After a serious illness of a year, James H. Hughes passed away at seven o'clock Saturday morning at the age of 68. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Annie Hughes and eight children, Zylphia Wilson of Los Angeles, Sylvan Hughes and Mrs. Mildred Leavitt of Las Vegas, Clara Leavitt of Beaver Dams, Elmer, Mrs. Mary Hardy, Mrs. Jannie Barnum and La Dessa of Mesquite. A .mother, Mrs. Carmelia Hughes, three brothers, William, Walter, and Arthur, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Leavitt and Francis Abbott. Mr. Hughes was a pioneer of Mesquite, Mes-quite, having always been interested in promoting the welfare of this community. com-munity. He had been a merchant there for twenty-five years, being kind and generous at all times and anxious to help those in need. Funeral services were held at Mesquite, Mes-quite, many from St. George attending. attend-ing. The speakers were Bishop William E. Abbott, Elder Frank Leavitt and Karl E. Fordham,. Music was furnished by the Mesquite Mes-quite choir. |
