Show NEWSLESS NEWSPAPER No news isn't always good new3. George C. Snow, Chadron, Neb., publisher, sent out a recent issue of his weekly paper containing nothing but advertisements. Old Subscribers called to protest. So did the not-so-old ones. The others dropped in at the office to register their complaints in person. Sorrve of them registered double complaints, as advertisers and business men. These protested that if there wasn't any news in the paper none would bother to look at the advertisements. Mr. Stone agreed with them. He also pointed out that if people will not read newsless newspapers there is reason to believe that they will pay scant attention to circulars, handbills and free "throw sheets" to which some of the Chadron merchants had l'en devoting a large slice of their advertising budget, he next week's issue saw both news and advertisements back to normal. |
