Show ' NATURE KICKS UP Nature started the year off with the earthquake in California, and has been kicking up disturbances ever since. The Midwest and South have had a succession of floods, storms and tornadoes that have left death and destruction in their wake; "unusual" weather has prevailed all over the country, and in general it seems that nature is out to get some kind of a record. All in all Utah's Dixie has had by far the best of it. The sun is high in the heavens and misses few occasions for distributing beneficient rays. There has been enough rainfall rain-fall to prevent' danger of draught, and the snowfall in the mountains has been unusually heavy. The hardest wind we have here is a gentle zephyr compared with those that visit other sections of the country, and for the most part nature smiles here when she frowns elsewhere. It may have been remarked before that Utah's Dixie is a pretty good place to live. n |
