Darley, cashier of the Cache Valley Banking company, Logan, who was also placed in nomination, declined to run for the office and asked that the convention con-vention go on record by voice vote unanimously in favor of Mr. Hemingway. At the conclusion of the U. B. A. sessions, a brief meeting was held by the Utah members of the American Bankers' association, at which time offcers were elected as follows: D. A. McMillan, president of the First National bank of Murray, Mur-ray, vice president for Utah; Ray C. Wilson, vice president of the First National bank of Salt Lake, vice president for Utah in the national na-tional bank division; Willard R. Smith, cashier of Zion's Savings bank. Salt Lake, vice pres. for Utah in the savings division, and Henry A. Gardner, cashier of the Bank of Spanish Fork, vice president presi-dent for Utah in the trust division. divi-sion. Lawrence Clayton, vice president of the First National bank. Ogden. is the retiring vice president of the A. B. A. for Utah. Spwikers Listed Addresses were delivered at the Saturday session of the Utah Bankers' association by J. M. MacFarlane, president of the Utah Cattle and Horse Growers' association, Salt Lake; Dr. W. L. Wanlass, dean of the school of commerce, Utah State Agricultural Agricultur-al college, Logan; John A. Malia. state bank commissioner. Salt Lake, and C. A. PhilMps, dean of the school of commerce, University Univer-sity of Iowa. The resolutions committee congratulated con-gratulated the retiring officers, especially President J. E. Hal-vorsen. Hal-vorsen. who was presented with a traveling bag. a gift and token of appreciation for the service he has rendered during the past year. The press was also lauded for its efficiency and complete coverage cover-age of the convention and for the help given the bankers of the state throughout the trying rer-iod rer-iod of the depression. Time and place of next year's meeting will be announced probably prob-ably seme time in August by the next executive committee. |
