Show College Will Get Part of Allotment Dixie Junior college has been included in' the $50,000 of federal feder-al funds that have been obtained from the public work administration administra-tion at Washington. Credit for this goes to Governor Blood as it was through his efforts that this sum has been obtained. Dixie's share of the fund thus provided, for the benefit of students stu-dents in needy circumstances, is $ 1800, of which $180 is set aside for expenditure on public work around the college, which is especially adapted for women I students at the institution. The program of works was rather carefully worked out by various officials of the public works administration, conferring with college authorities, and the major projects to be undertaken are set forth in some detail, together to-gether with the number of student stu-dent hours at work, the amount to be spent for materials, which will total $11,770. In some instances, in-stances, however, the fund is left largely to discretion of the proper prop-er officials, and the program of improvements to be made at Dixie is not worked out in such detail. To the University of Utah $26,-9S0 $26,-9S0 is allocated, of which $900 is to be in projects suitable for women. wo-men. About $6000 of this amount will be for materials such as Portland cement for use in the walks and curbing to be installed" The Utah State Agricultural college has a total allocation of $12,500. with $1350 for women students. The Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college and Snow junior college, at Cedar City and Eph-raini. Eph-raini. respectively, receive each $2025. of which $225 is for projects pro-jects for women. For Weber college col-lege these amounts are doubled. The sums mentioned, including $1,7S0 for Dixie, total $49,418, the remainder of the $50,000 being be-ing for interest already accrued, since the loan and grant are dated dat-ed as of October 1. The expenditures will carry 26S students a month, and are to continue through the college year, at the end of which time it is calculated, cal-culated, about 2000 students will have participated in the benefits of the plan. |
