Show g HURRICANE I Hun"icane' May 3- Mrs' Jose-lhine Spendlove Wood died very suddenly Saturday afternoon, having been ailing ail-ing on'y about two days. Sister Wood was born at Virgin May 27, j595; she taught school at Rockville and at Hurricane; was married to Elmer Wood during the World War, ! her husband being one of those that i a-ent over seas and was in actual service. ser-vice. She was of a splendid character charact-er a loving wife and mother and was loved by all. She is survived by a husband and three small children, father and mother, six brother and five sisters besides numerous relatives rela-tives and friends, who will mourn helloes. hel-loes. Much sympathy is extended the bereaved family. Funeral services were held at the Hurricane schoolhouse May 2, 1927, Bishop Ira H. Bradshaw presiding. The speakers were Bp. Bradshaw, Elders Jas. X. Stanworth, James Jep-son, Jep-son, E. X. Stanworth, Morris Wilson, jr , and David Hirschi. Musical numbers were "Not . Half Has Ever Been Told," by ward choir; vocal duet by Lorenzo and Seville Parker, "Sometime, Somewhere;'' a " violin solo by Walter Eagar; vocal solo by Grace Isom, "She Sleeps Beneath A Hose," and "Sometime We'll Understand" Under-stand" by the ward choir. The opening open-ing prayer was by Elder Chauncey Sandberg; closing' prayer by Elder Orvil Reeve. The grave was dedicated dedi-cated by Pres. W. R. Palmer of Paro-wan Paro-wan Stake. The grave was covered with a profusion of flowers. School closed here Friday with exercises ex-ercises in the morning where diplomas diplo-mas were given those of the sixth and ninth grades. Pins and sweaters were awarded the higher grades. A cantata was given by the lower grades Friday evening. A dance was also given Thursday evening. Hodney Stanworth was quite badly injured by a runaway team last week, receiving several cuts and bruises, but fortunately no broken bones. Mrs. Clara Stratton had a severe attack of heart U'QuWs Monday but is somewhat improved now, Mrs. Ross Allen of Orderville is visiting her son Charles and wife of this place. |
