Show HURRICANE Hurricane, July 2V One of the twin babies of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hinton died about a week ago and the other one yesterday afternoon. They were about a year old. The parents have the deep sympathy of the community in their bereavement. The Pioneer day celebration went off fine, there being a program in the auditorium in the morning and sports in the afternoon with dancing and picture show at night. The Ii. A. C. intended giving a concert here last night but no notice was given out so very few know of it and just a few musical numbers were given at the hotel. One carload of bartlelt pears and some elberta peaches were shipped from here Monday. About the last of the week the elberta crop will be on. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Hall spent last week touring and visiting in the north. Their daughter Nora and husband accompanied them. William E. Woodbury left for Salt Lake City Sunday to attend summer school. Mrs. Mattie Ruesch accompanied accom-panied him. Ether Wood and family have gone to Salt Lake City and intend returning return-ing with a new three-ton truck. Angus Ballard has gone with his family to Salt Lake City to stay in-definately. WASHINGTON Washington, July 2S. Pioneer day was celebrated here with an appropriate ap-propriate program in the forenoon, children's dance in the afternoon, sports and games in the evening and dance for adults at night. Bleak's orchestra from St. George furnished the music. Everybody seemed to enjoy en-joy the day. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. lverson. Bishop and Mrs. Victor lverson? Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gould, Mrs. Lafell lverson and Miss Helen Hannig spent Sunday at Cedar Breaks. They all enjoyed the trip very much. Hyrum Boggs went with them as far as Cedar Ced-ar City and returned in the evening. Among those that came home to spend Pioneer day were George T. Thayne, Bert Hall, Lafell lverson, Frank Larson, Denzil Sproul, Ulric Zahner, Archie and Ernest Tobler. Most of them have returned to their work at Cedar City or vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Hall returned Thursday from Salt Lake City where Mr. Hall attended the Postmasters' convention. They also visited friends and relatives in Cache valley and other places. Carl Larson aleft on the 23rd for Provo to attend summer school in the mountains. He intends attending attend-ing the B. Y. U. next winter. Reuben Boggs spent a couple of days at home last week. He returned return-ed Thursday to Cedar City where he has employment. Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Pectol, Miss Winnie Terry and Fay lverson spent the 24th here from Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. William Gould, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Tanner spent the 2 4th in Zion park Mrs. Bert Hall is spending this week in Cedar City with her sister, Mrs. Ray Perry. Athole Judd came in from Rioche, Nev., to spend the 24th; he will re-, turn Wednesday. |
