Show FAMOUS TENOR TO SING FRIDAY Arnold E. Blackner, one of the foremost tenors on the concert con-cert stage today, will be in St. George Friday evening, Nov. 13, to present the second number on the Dixie College Lyceum course. The following is taken from a report of one of his concerts in the northern part of the state: "It is so seldom that we hear a vocalist in concert that there is a tendency to forget the possibilities pos-sibilities of a human voice. It is then quite natural for us to be surprised at the accuracy and range of a wonderful voice. "As was promised, Mr. Blackner Black-ner gave a program which touched on several types of music, mu-sic, some of which were certain to appeal to every member of the audience. Opera numbers, the words of which were not understood, un-derstood, were carried by expression ex-pression and interpretation while the favorite ballads were deeply plumbed to present them with a surprising deptli of feeling. "A transition from the melodic melo-dic .through intricate air of the Camden numbers, "Oh, Ye Warriors", War-riors", and "Autumn Leaves", into the vigorous challenge of "The Thunder Birds" was demonstrative dem-onstrative of Mr. Blacknrr's control con-trol and expression. "An operatic air. "Vesta la Ouibba", from "I'agliaeci", was perhaps the most appreciated of .Mr. IlI.'K'kner's numbers chosen from groat music. The air, familiar fa-miliar to most, is one usually associated as-sociated with C-iniso. and (ila ok-m-r. a former Wyoming cowboy, exceeds t ':; e great Italian in range." |
