Show Second survival trip ends This past Mon Monday lay Ron Meier and other fellow hikers returned from the second day 7 trip of the Uintah Basin Survival Sur Sur- vival viva Program During the first day of the trip rappelling took place north of Maeser Also during the first day l hiking k ng was done along the rim of the Ashley Gorge ON THE TilE SECOND da day of the trip the survival squad hiked to the north fork of the Ashley Gorge The third day consisted of hiki hiking g to the Death of James Meadow and to Frenches Park The group saw elk at both locations location The group hiked to Black Canyon on the fourth day and on the fifth day traveled to Alma Taylor Hollow On the fifth day the group went from Alma Taylor Hollow to Dry DryFork Fork and camped in the Dry Fork area on the fifth sixth and seventh da days s. s The final day was a ten tenmile tenmile tenmile mile run from Dry Fork to Maeser An elementary trip at Rout Creek is set for this Tuesday Wednesday and July 8 Twenty youngsters will take part in inthis this TilE THE TEN day survival trip is slated for July 21 12 and will commence at Chipeta Lake The first five days will be spent fishing the lakes between Chipeta and Hacking Lake They will then stop at the Ashley hley Twins Frenches Park and then return to Vernal The third seven day trip is set for July 26 to August 1 1 When asked for comments on the trips R Ron n Meier instructor of the program said So far the trips have been going really well Lots of kids want to go on more trips Ive I've seen kids who lack confidence build confidence confidence confidence con con- with these activities |
