O Lynn Richens celebrated cel their Gold Golden n Wedding anniversary anniversary sary Saturday June 23 1973 at atthe the Ki Ki- wants wants' House House Vernal with a family fam fame ily fly reunion and informal dinner THEY WERE married June 13 1923 In the Salt Lake Temple Their first home homo was a room 2 dirt roofed log house north of their present home in Na pies ples The Richens have five children four boys and andone one girl Those attending the anniversary were Mr and Mrs Hugh L L. L lichens Las Vegas Nevada Mr and Mrs Glen V V. V Richens and family Mr and Mrs Lorn S. S Richens and family Mr and Mrs Dan H H. Richens and and family all of Vernal Mr and Mrs Charles Charles' Everett and family of Lima Color Colorado do Mrs Hank Hughes Jr and two daughters special guest Mrs Hank Hughes Sr all of Gillette Wyoming On June 2nd Lynn and Nellie left Vernal with Lorns Lorn's family for a trip to St St. St Louis Missouri Abilene Carthage Nauvoo and many more historic places While in St. St Louis the group took a ride on the theold old Huck Finn ferry the Mississippi river 8 a life time dream come true AT THE age of 17 years Mr Richens served as assistant Scout Master to Mr Lewis Gardiner with the first scout troop World War I had just ended and andas andas andas as the soldier boys returned home Mr Gardiner and Mr Richens requested some from Naples to join th the Scout meetings and teach marching Naples Scouts could march with any army par ade Lynn continued as a January 1921 Mr Richens left Vernal Vernal Ver nal to serve a two year mission in the Northwestern States and Canada He returned home January 1923 and went to work for the Uintah Light Company in Roosevelt and in the power plant on the Uintah River Mr and Mrs s. s Richens honeymooned at the power plant after th their lr wedding and enjoyed riding the water pipe line riv river r country on on horse back In the fall of 1923 Lynn got a job on the road which was was' underway underway un derway over in the twists northwest of Vernal He rode a horse from home each morning and back at night It wa was cold ride as the days got colder the then winter shut down the work Road work was scrapers' scrapers that men held by hand The dally daily wage was was per day Mr and Mrs Richens lichens were both raised on the farm s so so as it was ranching has been their life occupation MR RICHENS has worked at many kinds of jobs He was the first service station attendant in the beautiful old cobble rock on the corner comer then owned by T T. G G. G Alexander and Byron Thomas The Cobble Rock station was rated the most date to date to-date station between Salt Lake and Denver He worked at the gilsonite mine for Mrs Richens Richens' brother Ludvig Jacobsen He and Fred Reynolds Reynolds' were partners in cattle c buying and slaughter house b business He was also secretary for Federal Fed eral Land Bank and Joint owner owner-in in real estate company with Leon P P.
