Show 300 STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE U OFUDEGREES Approximately 300 University of Utah students will be awarded award-ed diplomas at annual summer commencement exercises Friday evening. Ceremonies, scheduled at 7:00 p.m. in front of the Park Building, Build-ing, will feature Dr. Arthur L. Beeley, longtime dean of the Graduate School of Social Work, as principal speaker. Among those receiving diplomas diplo-mas will be Arthur D. Bentley, B.S. economics, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bentley, and William Wil-liam R. Boren, U.S. social studies (education), son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Boren. Some 100 students including 25 doctor of philosophy candidates candid-ates have earned advanced degrees. de-grees. Bachelor's degrees will be presented to the 200 members of the senior class. In his commencement address, Dean Beeley will discuss "The Unused Knowledge of Human Behavior". Head of the Graduate School of Social Work since 1927 he also serves as chairman of the sociology department. Last June the university honored him with an honorary doctor of law degree. Other speakers on the program will include Dr. Harold Bentley, dean of the summer school, who will report on the summer's activities ac-tivities and Richard L. Bird Jr., who will welcome senior class members into the Alumni Association. |
