cakes the fruit was grown in lapoint and the cookies and cup ca cakes kes are homemade apples pears peaches apricots and many other varieties of fruit in at arrangements were exhibited at the fair MANY HOBBIES WERE EXHIBITED AT TIM THE FAIR by janet neilson and louis ath grade grad the school children brought some hobbles to the fair some of the children brought some borne coin collections clay dinosaurs hand made samplers era and many other things at 1 30 p m the mothers came all the children had punch and cookies after refreshments fresh ments the mothers looked at all the hobbles hobbies and they like them very much mrs lee took pictures of all the exhibits LAPOINT SCHOOL FAIR by judy Ifor horrocks rocks ath grade our school had a fair on september oth the me children trough brought lots of vegetables to school to display uch such as car rots tomatoes corn potatoes turnips squash cantaloupes and cabbage there were many appetizing bottles of fruit jelly and pickles hernia herma lee coando brought a bottle of trout fish she helped can many parents visited the fair the teachers served punch and cookies to the pie parents and children we all had fun at the fair the flower show displayed many ful arrangements and received many ribbons the pet parade was most exciting with fifteen horses and ponies many dogs cats chickens and one pet deer the parade was a dramatic finale tor for a very entertaining day DOLLS AT THE FAIR by karla lee ath grade on september 9 our school had a fair the children brought their dolls there were many varieties of dolls big dolls small dolls and medium size dolls sandra hackford brought her set of dolls dressed to look like dolls from different foreign countries dressed in their native costumes NEWS ITEMS by vickie huber 3rd ard ath grades we are working on our radio program we are going to have a short play about the coming of jack frost some poems and a song come coe little leaves mr is making a recording of it october then it will be played for the public october at 2 45 P pm m MOLLY by christine Christl no nyberg mrs found a mourning dove it had a broken wing and was blind in one eye she gave molly to the class we kept her one month then we turned her out we think she has gone south with the other birds now by joan huber rosanna kenna dee kayla rickle rickie and drenda brenda brought some caterpillars into our room they spun their cocoons it was fun watching them come out of their cocoons and turn into monarch butterflies some of them hatched before theophers the others our teacher went to salt lake city to a meeting thursday and friday we were afraid they would all be dead but they monday when we opened our windows they flew out and there were eight beautiful monarch butterflies that flew away HOMES by kenna do dee harlle we made many different kinds of homes in our social studies class our class went up to see thelma thclma winns new home they are just building it we were real interested in seeing how it was built merrill ras mus en was the carpenter who talka talked with us ile he showed us everything about the house it Is made of lumber and will have red bricks on it there are six rooms no basement the dinette will have large glass doors doom it will be heated with san gas and there will be a glassed in lawn room the shingles are a asphalt the chimney will be large enough for santa clause to we put themi ina in a large glass house LAPOINT ik 2nd and GRADE when we came back to school this tall fall we were surprised to see we had new desks they are pink and blue and we like them very much we have new daisy lights too now we can see as aa well on cloudy days as an on sunny days we have a new girl in our room her name Is paula whipple and she came from arizona all but one of our milk weed caterpillars hatched into butterflies we turned them loose in our room so they could try their wings wing doyle angus went to idaho to visit his cousins the second grade have new spelling books we think it Is fun to learn new words we have many new library books some are hard and some are easy mrs lee reads the hardest ones to us at story time we are making plans to dec orate our room tor for our halloween party most of us wore our sweat era today we think maybe jack frost will come calling tonight JENSEN SCHOOL NEWS aih and ath grade grad reporter Report sr terry cockrell last week jensen school had a cleanup day we clean ed up our ball field and play ground ohp whole school helped clean up we had refreshments when we were through this year jensen school has many new books water colors and new blackout curtains we are very proud of our new books and things this year jensen school h has as many new children some of the new children are terry and dale cockrell from naples school patricia and carl stewart from pleasant grove school and aleatha hendricks endricks II from antlers anglers school jensen school has a new science cabinet this year we have a lot of new science equipment too this month the fifth andl and sixth grades are going to have a writing contest there are going to be many prizes last week the jensen sixth grade took the S R A series tests we all hope we did well on them jensen school fifth and sixth grades are going to have a II alloween party monday october 31 we are going to have refreshments and games SCHOOL NEWS on the first day of school we had an assembly in the gym where we welcomed the seventh graders to our school mr wilson introduced the faculty which included three new teachers miss nielson Nl elson who teaches U S history an and english mrs young who teaches girls P PE E and homemaking and mr knight who teaches science and math then we went to our home rooms to register and had a matinee dance we also have some new classes at our school mr pike Is teaching a spanish class and a music appreciation class mr lamb is teaching a new shop class mr allred has a leadership training class and Is our counselor mr wilson andar and mr hicks Ilick have shave reading classes mrs has a remedial reading class for a half day and mrs anderton has a remedial reading class in the afternoon at todd we have some other new things at our school toot we have a new phonograph an overhead projector a photocopy machine and a new bell system which rings by itself A new room has been made out of part of the science room where mrs holds her classes and new cupboards were built in the band room to keep our instruments st and uni uniforms formo in A few weeks ago we held for student body of fibers they are danny land president danny daniels vice president jeanne north and glen hartle secretary and treasurer yesterday we held elections election tor for clau officers they are eighth grade joan winn president mardean lamb vice rice president and richard lamb secretary seventh grade sherry nyberg ny berg president aits nits cluber vice president and lona lana houston sec 1 74 4 I 1 I 1 A bringing their hobbies ig lapoint school classes are kind of long but we dont mind school is a lot of fun this yearl although we have to work hard in our classes we like our teachers and they give us lots lota of interesting pro ejects to work on mrs young has been teach ing us about family life in home making mr lamb is teaching us to build models in shop class and in miss niel sons U S history class we are building a model of J jamestown ames with a store a church house a log cabin and a blacksmith shop we have a good band this year y ear and mr pike is planning to take them to salt lake tor for the band days festival next saturday and to watch a foot ball game between the university of utah and montana we still go down to todd for lunch but we get back in time to dance in the gym or play football for a while before the bell rings and this friday we are going to go to union to watch union play uintah in a football game NAPLES GRADE NEWS OUR WALK we went for a walk we went to see the signs of autumn we saw seeds
