| Show jr college agriculture classes studied at two county meeting A special meeting to discuss the type of vocational agrical ture that may be taught at the proposed uintah basin jt jr college near roosevelt was held wednesday of last week at 8 p m in union high school the meeting was called by E allan bateman state school superintendent and mark nichols head of the state vocational education department part ment representatives of both aln tah and duchesne counties who are interested in agrical tural education were invited and about 40 persons attended mr bateman said bald that the fate of the proposed junior college rests rest on the next session of the state 1 logis legislature lattire which has the decision deci of making the appropriation r A total of acres of land has been donated for tho the col lege which is scheduled to i A 4 open in the fall of 1962 the site is located a half mile east of union high school on US ILS 40 the state building doard board la Is currently working on an overall campus plan which will begin with one building which would give vocational as well as academic classes about 20 faculty members are expected plus a president at the time of opening after five years an enrollment of stude students tits Is anticipated the state leaders said that a decision was w mado made to hav the regular academic agricultural science with lower evl slon credit that could be transferred to A four year college rather I 1 than going in to terminal I 1 education that would have to include I 1 shop construction it was felt that high st in n both counties 0 aim an j Z equipped to han program 4 and 0 evening stud t M |
