Show Jensen Gladys Peterson Phone 789-1945 V ' Recital held for baton group A recital was held July 28 for the baton group, "Jenny's Fancy Fam-mettes," Fam-mettes," taught by Jennifer Wilkens. To make this a memorable event the cathedral hall was decorated with crepe paper, and the four banners that were used to announce the group in the parade were hung in front and back of the room. Boneta Brown was the announcer an-nouncer of the evening program. The routines featured: beginners, advanced advanc-ed I, advanced II, and fire baton. Each student then performed, having hav-ing the freedom of choosing her own music, costume and performance. After each one had her turn the group presented Jennifer with a small bouquet of red roses to show their appreciation. ap-preciation. Miss Wilkens in turn handed hand-ed out special awards to four girls who were the top in their group: Michele Christiansen, Cindy Wall, Sharron Snow and Mindy Talman. The banner carriers were not overlooked as they lead the group in every parade they were in, Kyle Ruppe, Jerimy Snow, Ryan Ainge and Misty Lammert. Refreshments were served to all who attended the recital. Then a special treat took place as the fire baton group made ready outside to do a routine with their flaming batons. John Haslem has spent a few days in the hospital. Troop 888 of the Vernal Police spent a three day campout at Browns Park last week. They enjoyed fishing and swimming. Misty Lammert, a niece to Mr. and Mrs. Scott Caldwell, will be returning home to Moab after staying here for two months. Misty came after her brother suffered severe injuries in a motorcycle mishap. Her parents sent her here to stay while he recovered. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stewart went to Salt Lake to attend the temple ceremony with their daughter and husband hus-band Mr. and Mrs. Randy Simmons. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ruppe traveled to Salt Lake Monday to take Cal in to have a medical checkup. A large number of people from Jensen Ward traveled to Roosevelt to attend the farewell testimonial of David Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Allen, who has been called to serve in the English Mission. Jensen rendered a song dedicated to him. After the meeting an open house was held where refreshments and visiting were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Ainge and family have moved into their new home. The Vincent family held their annual summer barbeque on their mountain range last Saturday. A large group of people attended and enjoyed a pot luck dinner. The Curfew reunion was held around the Blue Bell area by the Yellowstone River. Those attending this occasion from Jensen were Mr. and Mrs. Don Fedelleck, the Tamera Morrill family fami-ly and Mr. and Mrs. Dee Curfew. Mr. and Mrs. Nervin Dudley traveled travel-ed to Fargo, North Dakota, to move her parents, the Swartwouts, to Loveland, Colo, where they will live close to their other daughter and family, fami-ly, the Spencer Ure's. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Powell traveled to Missouri to visit the Grant Johnson family. On their way they stopped at Witchita, Kansas at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Bacon. There the three Lewis children got acquainted with their half brother Tracy. After visiting a day or so there they traveled travel-ed on to Nauvoo, Illinois, and Independence, In-dependence, Missouri on a historical tour of the church sites there. The Powells then traveled on to Ava, Mo. where Nita's sister Floy and family lives. They got to visit with many of the Johnson's children and report that they are all doing well. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Caldwell traveled travel-ed to Moab to return Misty to her home and visited for a while before returning return-ing home Saturday. How many have awakened to the sound of a busy airplane along the banks and ponds by the river? Rest assured that the pilot, Steve Romney, is busy spraying the mosquito population popula-tion to enable all to enjoy the yards and gardens of their homes without being constantly attacked by so many of these pesky little blood suckers. The annual Pioneer dinner was served serv-ed to senior citizens on Saturday, July Ju-ly 23, to wonder elders of seventy years and older. Jenny's Fancy Famettes were no. 22 in the annual 24th parade this year. Besides their leader, Jennifer Wilkins, there were 22 young girls in fringed uniforms to show off their acquired skills of baton twirling during the entire en-tire parade route. There were also three boys and another girl who proudly pro-udly carried the banners leading the girls. Marching in the parade with the Uintah High School Drill Team, were Tralynne Ruppe, Sharlyn Slaugh, and Cynthia Peterson. Tonya Morrill was riding in the Cheerleaders group of which she is a member. The Jensen Fire Truck was enter in the year's parade. Bonnie Wilkins w as at the wheel. Other members of the fire department were passengers in the cab and a few riders were on the back of it. They were Foy Murray and Mikell Peterson. Cal Ruppe is home for the summer. He's been in Las Vegas, Nevada and has come home for awhile. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ainge motored to Salt Lake over the weekend to tour the city and attend the 'Days of 47 Rodeo'. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Ainge took first place at the ribbon catching event at the rodeo the other night. Morgan Ainge and his partner were in fourth place in the Team roping event. Ryan Ainge ran the barrels at the Ward Rodeo. Mrs. Ann Moon was flown to Salt Lake, Wednesday, to the LDS hospital. Ann developed complications following follow-ing major surgery and has been sent to Salt Lake for more professional care. Mrs. Jenny Moon of Salt Lake has been in Jensen for the past few weeks caring for her daughter-in-law Ann, and grandson Stephan, w hile Ann had her surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Lorn Ruppe and sons spent some time visiting the zoo and lagoon last week. |
