Show WfffffJttfffftfIftffffffft Maeser Eloise Alien Parker I Phone 789-2178 J Residents take vacation time Frank, Echo and Nancy Allen just returned from a three week vacation trip that took them through 16 states. From Vernal they drove to Denver then on to Abilene, Kan., Carthage, 111., Nauvoo, 111., and to Kentucky. They saw all the historical and religious landmarks in the cities they visited. They stopped in Calera, Ala., to visit their daughter, Diane and Cliff Storey and family. They continued on to Georgia, Tenneseee and came back by way of Flagstaff, Ariz., where they stopped at the Grand Canyon and Zions Park in Utah. The trip covered 6,000 miles. Two new Maeser residents are Brant Willian Hall and Erin Elizabeth Parker. Brant William is the son of Larry and Gloria Hall. He was born June 23 and weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz. He is their second son and he has two sisters. Grandparents are Phoebe Jane Merkley and Charles W. Hall. Great grandparents are Morgan and the Late Erma Merkley. Maternal grandparents grand-parents are Rex and Lori Fowler and great grandmother is Mary Kidd. Erin Elizabeth Parker is the daughter of John and Freda Parker and was born July 2 in Roosevelt. She weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and was 18 V long. She is their third daughter and has one brother. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. Parker of Sun City, Ariz., and Beatrice Reese of Manila. President and Mrs. Venil Johnson attended the Rose family reunion in Etna, Calif., recently. Eric and Lori Johnson and two children flew in from Huntsville, Ala., Paul and Jacque Johnson and family from Vernal and Perry and Sharon Johnson of Kearns also attended the reunion. Max and Beth (Allen) Manley and daughter, Sharon, and husband, Jerry Perry, and three children from Makensie, Tenn., spent a week here with Beth's mother, Dorothy Allen. The Ray Allen family was out for the weekend from Salt Lake City. They also visited Garth and Olive Atwood families. Archie and Joe Johnson won second place in the July 4 parade with their train. They are the sons of Paul and Jacque Johnson. The Rodney Schofield's daughter, Caroyln Taylor, and son, Lance, and daughter, Nancy, of Lander, Wyo., have spent this past week visiting their grandparents and Carolyn's sisters living in Vernal. Phoebe Jane Merkley of Fruita, Colo., spent last week with her parents, the Morgan Merkleys. She was helping George D. take the cattle up on Taylor Mountain to summer range when she was accidentally run over by one of the trucks. She was not seriously injured and returned to Fruita. Ralph and Mazie Samson and their son, Douglas, from Richland, Wash., spent a day at the home of Mrs. Marion Allen this week. Mazie is Mrs. Allen's niece. Wayne, Shirley, Shayn and Shannon Bullock and Vickie Garcia and her two children, Sage and Jared, spent last weekend at Brown's Park. Clara and Morgan Merkley had several of Clara's children visiting with them the past two weeks. Shirley ( Hulbert) Wilde and six children from Big Lake, Alaska, have been here for two weeks. Lane and Rondie (Hulbert) Owens and five children from Chester, Idaho, spent 8 days in Vernal. Wayne and Carol (Hulbert) Pope and two children from Bountiful and two friends were here for the weekend. Shirley plans to spend several days in Chester, Idaho with her sister, Rondie, and family on her way back to Alaska. To top off the two weeks and as a farewell dinner for Shawn Abplanalp, his parents, Larry and Wanda Abplanalp gave a dinner at the Remember the Maine Park for all of the families. Shawn entered the Mission Training Center June 30. Merlin Mott spent the weekend at home with his mother, Doris Mott. He lives in Southern Utah where he is employed by the government. Maeser was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Kathie Bowden. |
