Show Antelope planted on Myton Bench Almost 250 head of antelope were released last week on the Myton Bench in Duchesne County and on the East Bench near the White River on the Book Cliffs. The transplant was the result of a year of planning in a cooperative effort with the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Bob Nielson, the Northeastern Regional big game manager for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, credits the Colorado Division with the successful trapping operation. "The Colorado people peo-ple were just great," says Nielson. "They provided us with helicopters, and all the help we needed to trap and , transport the animals," he continued. A veterinarian was also on hand to care for injured animals. The antelope will join an existing herd on the Myton Bench, and help to start a new herd on the East Bench. |
