Show Musicians participate in stringed music festival Over 80 young musicians participated par-ticipated in the annual Uintah Youth Orchestra Stringed Music Festival last week. The festival was adjudicated by four members of the directing staff of Utah Valley Youth Symphony. Each participant partici-pant in the festival received a participation par-ticipation award. All solo and ensemble ensem-ble entries were given constructive critique by the adjudicators. Members of Orchestra Three received ratings for their entries. The Orchestra Three received an excellent-plus superior-minus superior-minus rating from the panel of four adjudicators. Philip Oviatt and Joelle Oviatt received the top ratings of the day for their solo entries. Philip received a superior rating from both violin adjudicators ad-judicators for his violin solo. Philip played the Third Movement of the Violin Concerts 2 by Seitz. Joelle Oviatt received a superior rating from both violacella adjudicators for her viola solo, Gavotte by Lully. Philip and Joelle also received a superior-minus rating for their string quartette entry. The following students received a superior-minus rating for their festival entries: Kerry Cameron, violin solo and string quartette; Danielle Droll- inger, violin solo; Becky Anderson, string quartette; Deena McDonald, string quartette; Kyle Cox, viola solo and string quartette; Erika Hacking, duet; Krista Warburg, duet; Stewart Brewer, violin solo and violin quartette; Rachelle Redden, violin solo and violin quartette ; Darin Perry, violin solo and string quartette; Cory Hackford, violin solo and violin quartette; chris Ylincheta, violin solo and violin quartette; Elisa Emery, cello solo and string quartette; Rhonda Rhon-da Larsen, cello solo and string quartette, and Andrea Amodt, violin solo. The adjudicators were impressed with the high quality of musicianship and professionalism demonstrated by all members of the Uintah Youth Orchestra. Thursday, May 5 all members of the Uintah Youth Orchestra and many parents toured Symphony Hall, Peter Prior Violin Making School and the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. They then attended the concert of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony in Symphony Sym-phony Hall.
