Show Garden expo to display area goods A long list of entertainment and over 50 booths from area merchants promises pro-mises to put participants in the mood for springtime during the 1983 Home and Garden Show. The show will begin Friday, May 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities and booths will be at the Uintah High School in the gym and outside in the south courtyard. Sponsors of this year's event are the Sunrise Lions Club, the Vernal Express Ex-press and KVEL and KUIN. Proceeds from the event will go to the Sunrise Lions Club for projects to benefit the community. Response of businesses to the Home and Garden Show has been exceptional, excep-tional, said Craig Blunt, Sunrise Lion in charge of selling the booths. Merchants Mer-chants pay $50 for a booth which will be set up either in the gym or in the south courtyard Besides local businesses, Utah State University Extension staff members will be at the show to answer any questions ques-tions about gardening, Job Service will have a booth concerning summer' employment for the youth, Vernal City's Ci-ty's Recreation Department will have a booth for summer recreation activities ac-tivities registration, the Uintah County Coun-ty Sheriff's Department will be showing show-ing a film on drugs, Vernal City Police Department will give a drunk driving demonstration, and Vernal EMTs will have a booth. Over 40 local merchants have donated door prizes for the event. Friday's activities will begin at 5 p.m. with a performance by the Uintah Uin-tah Hi-Lites, and at 6 p.m. the Uintah Flag Twirlers will perform. A Davis group wil do a 20's program at 6:30 p.m. and the Vernal Junior High Band will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's activities begin with a fashion show at 10:30 a.m., the Davis group 20's program at 11:30 a.m., a fashion show at 12:30 p.m. and solos and duets by the Vernal Junior High Band at 3:30 p.m. Models for the fashion shows will be provided by Total Look by Chris Polick and Jan Blair and directed by Kayt's Fashion Fantacies by Glenda Smarr. |
