Show Dinosaurland featured in Sunset magazine The May issue of Sunset Magazine will be featuring an article called "Dinah the Dinosaur and :Friend i.. Utah's 'Dinosaurland'." Pictures included are of the Dinosaur Gardens, the museum and Precam-brian Precam-brian Canyon of the Green River. "If a huge Stegosaurus were to lumber out of the primitive terrain around Vernal, it would hardly look out of place. Dinosaurs are everywhere here, in the self styled capital of northeastern nor-theastern Utah's 'Dinosaurland'," the article begins. The article then tells of the Tyran-nosaurus Tyran-nosaurus rex which greets visitors on the west end of town and the smiling Brontosaurus caricature, named Dinah the Dinosaur, which appears on shop doors, sides of trucks, and on business cards and letterheads. "Fervor over the extinct reptiles is intense in this town of 8,000," the article continues, "but for good reason. Vernal's backyard contains one of the greatest deposits of dinosaur remains in the world." "Bones unearthed at the Dinosaur Quarry and displayed at the visitor center 20 miles east of Vernal, indicate at least 12 kinds of dinosaurs lived here along the bank of a now-vanished river during the Jurassic period," the article says of Dinosaur National Monument. The article includes hours and times to visit the monument as well as the museum and gardens. |
