Show r X CLIFTON C. SMITH Clifton Smith dies at 87 Clifton C. Smith, 87 of Vernal, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City July 22, 1982. Born Nov. 22, 1894 in Taylorsville, Utah, his parents were Henry obed and Belle Elizabeth Graham Smith. He married Elma Rasmussen May 19, 1923 in Los Angeles, Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a mechanic, heavy equipment operator, served in the U.S. Army, and a member of the LDS Church Vernal 9th Ward. Survivors are his wife of Vernal; three sons, Clifton O. Smith of Meeker, Colo., Philip E. Smith of Rangley, Colo, and Donald H. Smith of Vernal; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Vena Meb) Wardell of Rangely, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; grand-children; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Eyre of California. He was preceded in death by a son, Leland Ray Smith. Funeral services were Monday, July 26 in the Vernal 9th Ward Chapel. Steve Smith gave the family prayer, and Bishop Kenneth Aycock conducted the service. "Oh My Father" was sung bv Norman Haslem, Francis Merrill', Betta Nash and Mac Holmes. Roland Hein gave the invocation. Bishop Aycock gave some remarks and Martin Curtis spoke. Kay Hunting and Mary Ann Snow sang "These Hands," accompanied by Marie Hatch. Gene Ray Hall spoke. A quartern sang, "Love At Home." Aurthus Curtis gave the benediction. Postlude and prelude music was by Maureen Johnson. Bill Rasmussen dedicated the grave. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Smith, Mike Smith, Steve Smith, Anthony Smith, Duane Paulson and Leo Jorgenson. |
