Show Up drinking age, urges board The National Transportation Safety Board urged 35 states to raise their drinking age to 21, stating that a third of all people killed in alcohol-related automobile accidents are between the ages of 16 and 24. The board, in letters to governors and state legislatures, said surveys of accident reports show a relationship between the drinking age and the number of young people involved in alcohol-related alcohol-related accidents. The drinking age in Utah is 21. Of 25,000 deaths last year in alcohol-related traffic accidents, 3,750 were between ages 16 and 19 and 4,760 were between the ages of 20 and 24, according to government statistics. |
