Jordan for foot ball gaiJ Teams in Region 7 have a bye this week and so the Uintah Utes' next football game will be against the Spartans in Murray, Thursday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. The Murray Spartans are tied for second place in Region 7 with Cyprus at 2 wins and 1 loss due to a 15 to 8 win over the Pirates from Magna, Friday. The Pirates played the game without their star runningback, Gilbert Vasquez, who was out with an injury. Vasquez scored three touchdowns against the Utes. Judge Memorial is in first place in Region 7 at 3 wins and 0 losses. The Bulldogs downed Uintah, 21 to 8, Friday. Uintah and Jordan are tied for fourth place at 1 win and 2 losses. Tooele is in sixth place at 0 wins and 3 losses. Jordan gained its first Region 7 victory when they edged Tooele, 16 to 7. Uintah's only Region 7 win was acquired when they nipped the Buffaloes Buf-faloes in Tooele 12 to 7, on Sept. 19. The Murray Spartans have also defeated Jordan, 12 to 0 and lost a close encounter to Judge Memorial, 19 to 12. Tony Peterson rushed for 100 yards in Murray's 12-0 win over Jordan. He also scored a 22-yard touchdown. Reserve quarterback Brent Hilton hit Richard Ulibarri at the Jordan nine and the speedy back carried the ball across the goal line for a 21 yard touchdown. Murray shut off the Jordan passing attack as Brent Wood and Kirk Imamura intercepted passes. Uintah has a 3-3 record and has downed Union, 20-14; Green River, Wyo., 12-0 and Tooele, 12-7. The Utes have been defeated by Lehi, 23-0; Cyprus, 21 to 13 and Judge Memorial, 21 to 8. The Utes have been strong in the backfield with outstanding running by Dave Emery, Mark Robb, Rick Morton, Mor-ton, Randy Smuin and quarterback, Pat Jenkins. Uintah's linemen. Randv Smuin, tightend; Kurt Case, Robert Schultz, Brent Hales, Robert Poole, Dave Hardy, Lonnie Williams, and Roger Griffin have turned in outstanding out-standing games. Uintah has played well on defense at times. The Utes have stopped many touchdown attempts with excellent goal line stands, but some long runs and long passes have hurt the Utes. Emery has scored four touchdowns for the Utes and has nabbed two two-point two-point conversions. Emery scored two touchdowns in the victory over Union and scored a two-point conversion. Uintah's fullback, Emery scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion on a pass in the Utes' loss to Judge Memorial. Emery also scored a touchdown touch-down in the game with Cyprus.
