Show PUBLIC NOTICE VIOLATION OK PUBLIC DKINMNC VATEK REM LA I IONS Under both state and federal regulations, operators or owners' of public drinking water systems are required to routinely analyze the quality of their drinking water and make improvements to their systems when the water fails to meet health related standards. As a consumer, you have the right to know when your drinking water is not meeting water quality standards or when adequate testing of water quality is not being be-ing performed. You should be informed of the problems present in your water system so that you will be aware of the need for system improvements and will be able to do you part in bringing them about. Many of the managements of public water suppliers provide proper public notice whenever problems with adequate testing or water quality arise. However, others do not notify the public even after they have been notified of this legal responsibility. In such instances the state is authorized to issue public notice of those system managements. As of September 15, 1980, the Bureau of Public Water Supplies has not received records to show that adequate notice has been provided by the public water supply systems listed below for the following violations of health related standards in Utah : 1. The following public water systems had coliform bacteria in their water above the maximum safe level during certain periods from April 1, 1980 to June 30, 1980. While coliform bacteria are not harmful themselves, they are an indication that possible disease-causing bacteria could be in the water.
