Show Vernal LaVon Wall Phone 789-0521 John Criger to work for national park service John and Linda Criger and two children have moved to Bryce Canyon where John will be employed as construction con-struction engineer for the National Park Service. Linda worked for the fish and wildlife service while they resided in Vernal. Mrs. Marinda Murray and daughter Saralyn Staley traveled to St. Marks Hospital last week to visit Mrs. Mel (Merial) Peterson, Mrs. Murray's daughter and Saralyn's sister, who has been hospitalized for three weeks seriously ill. Last week Merial's father, Glen Penney Murray and her brother David traveled to Salt Lake City to visit her. Mr. and Mrs. Brad Horrocks also traveled to visit with Mrs. Peterson. They report that at present Mrs. Peterson Peter-son is improved. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phillips from Fruita, Colo., were guests at the home of Joe and Glenna Murray last week. Mrs. Phillips is a sister to Mrs. Nora Murray. They were here to visit and see the new daughter born to Ron and Jane Murray Guffey. Dr. and Mrs. Ed Oscarson traveled to Salt Lake airport to take their daughter, Melanie who flew to Hawaii to enroll as a freshman at BYU Hawaii campus. Melanie is a full time student and plans to major in travel-tourism and accounting. She is enrolled in a Japanese language class also. Mrs. Jack (Lorna Bigelow) Anderson from Seattle, Washington, was a guest at the home of her mother, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Batty. She visited with her brother, President and Mrs. Nyle Bigelow and brother, Larry Bigelow and families. Mrs. Batty and Mrs. Anderson along with the Bigelow families traveled to Manila to visit with a sister, Mrs. Norman (Joyce) Long. While in Manila they attended the open house reception of Devan Long. Mrs. Burns Newby and daughter Susan from Birmingham. Mich., were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Llovd Winward last week. Mrs. Newby is the former Louise Winward and sister to Alta Winward. They spent four days at the Winward summer home on the mountain. They traveled to Provo where Susan enrolled at BYU. Vernal Second Ward Relief Society held their fall social on Sept. 2. President Presi-dent Debbie Clark was in charge and Mrs Isabell Batty gave a report on the life of Emma Smith. Husbands were special guests and refreshments were served. Mr and Mrs. Neil Deets traveled to Salt Lake City Wednesday to attend the Red Cross meet. They will visit with Donna's sister, Mrs. Mane Stark. Mrs Charlie Burton was taken to Holy Ho-ly Cross Hospital by helicopter where she underwent emergency surgery. Her husband, Charley Burton and son and wife Troy and Doris Burton traveled to the hospital to be with her. She returned home Saturday and is doing well. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Thacker traveled to Salt Lake City Tuesday of last week to attend the state fair. They did some business in the city and returned home, oti Thursday.-" ""- " Senator Glade Sowards was hospitalized for one week in the Holy Cross Hospital of observation. He returned home Friday night, improved. |
