Show City to decide on lower mill levy, parking meters WKDVhSDAY JIKADKKS The Vernal City council will be faced with lowering their mill levy and what to do about downtown parking at council coun-cil meeting Wednesday, Sept. 17. Because the county submitted a higher assessed value of Vernal City to the State Tax Commission, the agency has issued the city to lower its levy from 3.42 to 3.29. The city submitted its value at $16,760,480 and the county submitted sub-mitted the city's value at $17,541,493. The council will approve or disapprove the action to lower the mill levy. The city's planning staff has been studying stu-dying the problem of whether to reinstall parking meters on Main Street or not. The committee's findings support sup-port not installing the meters on Main Street and allowing an hour parking to each person parking on Main. Previously Previous-ly the issue was presented before the council and it was moved to reinstall the meters, but the issue will again come before the new council. Other agenda items include a status report on the city audit, interim warrant-McLean Construction and business licenses to be approved. |
