Tullis She won six different places In poetry writing contests sponsored by the Utah State Poetry Society The state festival was held In Inthe Inthe inthe the convention hall of the Tri Tri- Arc Travel Lodge In Salt Lake April 29 and 30 It was attended by three members of the local Uintah chapter Melba Tullis Bonnie h Howe owe and June Stewart JUNE JUN WON VON an honorable mention for a sonnet The prizes Melba won Included in included included In- In a first second and third place and three honorable mentions She also placed in inthe in inthe inthe the book manuscript contest which is a very prestigious honor stated fellow society member Bonnie Howe MELBA MELUA received a first in the Nature category for The Hunter and the Hunted free verse first and second in Western Indian Theme category for Guard Your Secret and Watch for Me free ree verse third place in the Traditional Poetry category for Meadowlarks Serenade villanelle and an honorable mention in the Book Manuscript contest for a n collection of 50 poems entitled Reap the Sunset She also received an honorable mention in the Western General History Field for Silhouette of Memory free ree verse and an honorable mention in the Ben Lomond Poets Bible Award Category for fora a Spenserian sonnet entitled This Earth My Home The Uintah Poetry Society meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at the public library at pm p.m. All interested people are urged to attend |
